Grammar Checker

Check English text against a limited set of spacing, capitalization, and wording rules.

How to Use Grammar Checker

Follow these steps, then review the result and the limitations below:

  1. Paste or type your English sentence, paragraph, or draft document into the input editor.
  2. Click "Run Tool" to apply a small set of browser-based text rules.
  3. Review the listed changes and the corrected text; check each suggestion before using it.
  4. Click "Copy Result" if the output is useful.

Practical Worked Example

Input: "Their is many mistake in this draft and it could of been written better". Output: "There are many mistakes in this draft and it could have been written better". The tool applies fixed phrase replacements and does not add a missing final period.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • Checks a limited set of common wording and punctuation patterns.
  • Automatic resolution of double spacing, lowercase sentence openings, and repeated words.
  • Lists the rules triggered by the input.
  • One-click clipboard copying for fast integration into word processors and email clients.

When a suggestion needs a second look

The checker applies text replacements rather than understanding a sentence. A quoted error, a product name, or deliberate repetition can trigger an unwanted edit. Keep a copy of the original and compare the corrected passage before copying it.

For example, could of is replaced with could have. That rule helps a common drafting mistake, but it does not verify tense, factual accuracy, tone, or the rest of the sentence. A passage with no suggestions is not necessarily grammatically correct.

A useful final editing pass

Read the result aloud and check who is performing each action. Confirm names, dates, numbers, and specialist terms separately. For important writing, ask a competent reader to review the full passage in context.

How It Works (Technical Overview)

JavaScript rules run in your browser. They remove repeated spaces and adjacent duplicate words, capitalize sentence openings, replace a few fixed phrases such as "could of", and adjust punctuation spacing. The rules do not understand the meaning of the sentence.

Real-World Use Cases & Applications

  • Draft emails: Catching repeated words or accidental double spaces before sending.
  • Short notes: Checking a few common wording mistakes.
  • Blog drafts: Reviewing suggested edits before publishing.

Privacy, Security & Accuracy

This is a small rule-based checker, not a comprehensive grammar or spell checker. It can miss agreement and spelling errors or change valid wording.

Pro Tips for Best Results

Compare every suggestion with the original. Use the counter for length estimates, and review meaning and grammar yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this grammar checker completely free to use?

Yes. There are no daily usage limits, subscription plans, or paid upgrades. You can check unlimited text passages anytime.

Does this tool support British vs. American English?

There is no dialect selector or full English grammar model. The same small set of fixed rules is applied to all input.

Will the tool change the underlying meaning of my sentences?

It can. Fixed replacement rules may be wrong in context, so compare the output with your original sentence before using it.

Is my text sent to third-party AI servers?

The checker code processes text in your browser rather than calling an AI service. This does not guarantee confidentiality on a page that also loads third-party scripts; avoid pasting sensitive drafts.
