Crop Image

Crop a static image using left, top, width and height in pixels, then download the selected region as PNG.

How to Use Crop Image

Follow these steps, then review the result and the limitations below:

  1. Select a supported static image.
  2. Enter Crop Left and Crop Top in whole pixels; zero starts at the corresponding edge.
  3. Enter Crop Width and Crop Height. A blank value extends to the corresponding source edge.
  4. Click Process Image and inspect the PNG preview before downloading.

Practical Worked Example

For a 120 × 60 source, Left 60, Top 0, Width 60 and Height 60 keep the right-hand half. The output is 60 × 60. A rectangle extending past the original edge is rejected.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • Task-specific controls with labelled fields and status feedback.
  • Processing uses browser APIs without a tool upload request.
  • Invalid input is reported before a successful output is offered.

Remove unwanted edges using a pixel rectangle

Cropping selects a smaller region without shrinking the whole picture. Left and Top locate the rectangle from the upper-left corner. Width and Height define the area to retain. Coordinates use the decoded image shown by the browser.

How It Works (Technical Overview)

The canvas drawImage source rectangle copies only the selected source pixels to a canvas of the crop size. This operation does not scale the entire source image into the crop.

Real-World Use Cases & Applications

  • Remove unwanted edges using a pixel rectangle. Check the worked example before processing your own input.

Privacy, Security & Accuracy

This is a numeric crop tool, not a draggable selection editor. There is no face detection, automatic subject framing or restoration of cropped pixels. Keep the original image. Practical limits depend on browser support and available memory. Files above 20 MiB are rejected; raster processing is limited to 16 million pixels and output dimensions to 8192 pixels per side.

Pro Tips for Best Results

Check the result against your original and the requirements of the destination. Keep an unchanged source copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does cropping lower image quality?

The selected pixels are copied at their decoded size and exported as PNG. Browser decoding and color handling still apply; original metadata is not deliberately preserved.

Is my input uploaded for processing?

The tool code works in the browser. The page can also load advertising or analytics scripts, which have separate data practices. Avoid sensitive files on an unsuitable device or page.
