PNG to SVG

Embed a static PNG in an SVG container. This does not trace pixels into vector paths.

How to Use PNG to SVG

Follow these steps, then review the result and the limitations below:

  1. Select a valid static PNG image.
  2. Click Process Image to create the SVG container.
  3. Inspect the preview and download embedded-image.svg. Keep the PNG source.

Practical Worked Example

A 120 × 60 PNG becomes an SVG with a 120 × 60 viewBox and an image element containing the PNG pixels as a data URL. Enlarging it still enlarges raster pixels.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • Task-specific controls with labelled fields and status feedback.
  • Processing uses browser APIs without a tool upload request.
  • Invalid input is reported before a successful output is offered.

Place PNG pixels inside an SVG container

This tool creates an SVG file containing an embedded PNG image. It does not trace outlines, generate editable paths or turn a logo into resolution-independent vector artwork. The distinction matters before sending a file to a printer or designer.

How It Works (Technical Overview)

The decoded PNG is drawn to canvas, exported as a PNG data URL, and embedded in an SVG image element. The SVG specifies its dimensions explicitly.

Real-World Use Cases & Applications

  • Place PNG pixels inside an SVG container. Check the worked example before processing your own input.

Privacy, Security & Accuracy

The output can be larger than the source because Base64 adds overhead. It has no editable vector paths and does not preserve source metadata. Use actual tracing software when paths are required. Practical limits depend on browser support and available memory. Files above 20 MiB are rejected; raster processing is limited to 16 million pixels and output dimensions to 8192 pixels per side.

Pro Tips for Best Results

Check the result against your original and the requirements of the destination. Keep an unchanged source copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suitable when a printer requests a vector logo?

Ask the printer. An SVG extension alone does not make artwork vector. This output is an embedded raster image and may not meet their requirements.

Is my input uploaded for processing?

The tool code works in the browser. The page can also load advertising or analytics scripts, which have separate data practices. Avoid sensitive files on an unsuitable device or page.
